10 EXACT Moments Movies Self-Destructed

4. "Evil Dies Tonight!" - Halloween Kills

Halloween Kills may deliver a ton of the titular kills, but it's otherwise a crushingly disappointing follow-up to 2018's Halloween quasi-reboot, in large part due to the tiresomely lazy, inane writing.

The film sees a mob of vengeful Haddonfield residents preparing to take on Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney), and throughout the movie they repeatedly utter the stupid mantra "Evil dies tonight!"

It's ultimately said almost 30 times by various characters over the course of the story, leading to the head-smackingly idiotic sequence where the mob believes that Lance Tivoli (Ross Bacon), a psychiatric hospital inmate who escaped alongside Michael in the previous film, is Michael himself.

When Lance turns up at the hospital, the mob wants blood, and though Karen Strode (Judy Greer) attempts to calm the incensed crowd down, she's unable to prevent them chasing Lance around the hospital until he leaps from a window, killing himself.

It's a commentary on mob mentality as subtle as, well, a face to the pavement, and confirmed beyond any doubt that David Gordon Green just didn't know what he was doing with the Halloween franchise.
