10 Most Excrutiatingly Annoying Comic Book Movie Characters

5. Emma Frost (X-Men: First Class)

There's something about January Jones as an actress that just rankles me. Maybe I'm not quite able to separate her from her infuriating Betty Draper character on Mad Men, or maybe it's the countless set reports that she's cold and difficult to work with, or maybe it's just that she's not a particularly good actress. Though I suppose a vacant demeanour somewhat suits a character as icy as Emma Frost, Jones gives an effortless performance as the character (that is to say, completely lacking effort), resulting in an interpretation that annoyed comic book fans and anyone who appreciates good acting. Lost creator Damon Lindelof even famously tweeted, "Emma Frost's THREE mutant powers: Telepathy, Transformation to Solid Diamond and last but not least, Sucking at Acting." Thankfully Frost doesn't get a whole lot screen time (it's briefly peppered throughout the movie), so we only have to put up with Jones' unique brand of autopilot non-acting for so long. Still, it's a shame given how popular the character is in the comics, so hopefully we might see her be recast one day.
