10 Famous Actors That Debuted In Horror Movies
8. Kristin Davis - Doom Asylum (1988)
By the late 1980s the slasher movie market was still churning out content non-stop. The films could be made cheaply and offered many unknown directors and actors their first gigs.
Doom Asylum followed this blueprint, telling the story of a deformed killer dwelling in basement of an abandoned mental hospital. There he stays unbothered for years, until a group of pesky teens decide to have a picnic nearby.
Doom Asylum is a film so bad that it's almost a blessing it was released direct-to-video. In this market the movie could settle in and be absorbed and forgotten by a sea of identical schlock... The problem is, one of Doom Asylum's cast just had to go and get famous.
Kristin Davis was only 22 years-old at the time of filming and puts in a performance that is... on par with the rest of this train wreck of a movie. It's almost impossible to believe that the actress would later be Emmy-nominated for her unforgettable role in Sex and the City. Doom Asylum sees her trying her best to be a damsel in distress, complete with constantly waving arms and a very skimpy costume.
Unfortunately, like the rest of the film, Davis' performance only succeeds in making the viewer laugh. If nothing else, Doom Asylum shows that an actor can improve drastically with time and experience.
