5. Gremlins
Another timeless family favourite. I guess you hate me by this stage. Surely we can at least agree that this was a franchise with more to offer than just two movies? It had everything a warm family flick could ever need. You've got the adorable little fur-ball Gizmo who had us all wanting our own little Wogwai to play with! The mischievous scallywags he inadvertently spawns and the subsequent chaos that ensues when they tuck into a post-midnight snack. What follows is a hilarious series of mishaps as the Gremlins run wild apparently motivated solely by their desire to have the most random fun possible. Why would we NOT want more of the same? If Superman Returns has taught us anything, it's that trying to simply pick up the torch and carry on where a long dead franchise left off is risky at best and won't always pay off. Cue the reboot "Man Of Steel". Doing the same with Gremlins could re-invigorate this family favourite and provide much needed competition to Pixar who currently dominate the family market, banging out anything they can because they know your kids will want to see it.
