10 Fan-Favourite Deleted Scenes (That Are Secretly Terrible)

2. The Grim Fate Of Captain Dallas - Alien

Alien took the basic slasher formula - a killer picks off characters one by one in an isolated location €“ and made a haunting monster movie out of it. The only character whose fate is left ambiguous is Captain Dallas, who is attacked in the air vents and never seen again. His true faith was filmed though, only to be cut out along with an explanation how alien eggs are made. In a deleted scene Ripley finds a strange nest as she€™s escaping the ship. While exploring it she finds a half-dead Dallas being slowly turned into an egg. He begs her to kill him so she ends up burning him alive alongside the remains of the nest. While the concept of this scene is creepy, the execution is just off; it should be disturbing but it was a little too goofy to really get under the skin. Dallas just disappearing made for a stronger moment too. The egg scene was restored for the 2003 director€™s cut and the general reaction was that the movie was better off without it.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
