10 Fan Theories That Make Comedies Really Depressing
1. Elf – Buddy Knew What He Was Doing The Whole Time
Buddy the Elf’s seemingly naïve nature gets him into all
kinds of scrapes when he arrives in New York City fresh from the North Pole but
if this fan theory is to be believed then all is not what it seems with the
fervently festive ingenue.
Remember when sweet, innocent Buddy ‘accidentally’ walks in on love interest Jovie while she’s showering? He claims he had no idea she was naked but a scene earlier in the film in which Buddy himself is taking a shower – naked, naturally – would suggest that of course he knows people tend to shower unclothed.
Yep, that’s right: Buddy is a sex pest. And if he’s willing to pass off his perviness as an innocent mistake it certainly casts a new light on the other things he does like annihilating a group of kids in a particularly vicious snowball fight and being pretty damn rude to man with dwarfism.
Buddy is basically pretending to be socially inept throughout the movie so he can get away with being an abusive pervert.
