10 Fantastic Actors Who Were Wasted In Recent Movies

4. Lakeith Stanfield - Knives Out

Knives Out was something of a surprise hit last year and a welcome redemption for writer/director Rian Johnson after the divisive Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The 'Whodunnit' throw back is well-executed, full of wit and suspense and exceptionally well-acted by its stellar cast, there is little to criticize about the film in all honesty. Unless you're a fan of Atlanta alum Lakeith Stanfield that is.

Stanfield has been quietly building a fantastic body of work over the last few years, appearing as the scene stealing Darius in the aforementioned Atlanta along with fantastic turns in Get Out and Sorry to Bother You as well. Stanfield was becoming hot property when he was cast in Knives Out.

While there is nothing wrong with his character or his acting in the film, he simply feels sadly under-used. Stanfield seems to simply play the straight man to Daniel Craig's excellent Benoit Blanc, and just appears to be awash in a sea of stars around him. It's understandable considering the talent surrounding him at all times, but Stanfield deserves to be regarded as a star in his own right and is sadly under-utilized in this otherwise excellent thriller.
