10 Fascinating Facts About Captain Marvel (2019)
8. Brie Larson Is Actually Allergic To Cats
Goose the cat stole so many of Captain Marvel's scenes, but even though the Flerken is best pals with Carol Danvers in the comics, Larson never actually interacted with the ginger tabby on-set.
In the film, Goose was portrayed by a number of cats and a mixture of CGI. All scenes where Larson had to handle the feline where completed with a double, and it's because the actor is actually highly allergic to cats.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Larson revealed that she was not just "kind of allergic," but "very, very allergic."
"All day. It became this joke because the crew would watch me all day doing crazy stunts. I did that ropes course stunt 50 feet up in the air on the first week. I threw [a stunt person] in a judo throw on a moving train, day two. But then the cat showed up on set and I was like, “We need to have a plan! We need to have a conversation!” I see cat hair flying, [and] I’ve got maybe 10 minutes before I break out in hives."
But fret not. Reggie the cat was well-loved by co-star Samuel L. Jackson:
"All those things are snack-oriented. You give them a snack, you talk to them in a relatively kind tone, and give them another snack when it’s over. Next time they see you, it’s like, “Oh, that’s the dude with the snacks!”
