10 Film Sequels That Made Fans Rage Quit

9. Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood

The Riddler Batman Forever

It was arguably the fifth movie that strained the fanbases relationship with the series, since it was a sleazy, mean-spirited affair with a twist ending that revealed Jason wasn’t actually the killer. The reception to that entry hurt the box office receipts for part six, despite the film receiving surprisingly good reviews.

Fans were pretty much done after part seven though, which is dismissed as “Carrie Vs Jason.” This outing was originally supposed to feature Jason fighting Freddy, but when a deal couldn’t be worked out Paramount decided to have him fight a psychic teenager instead. It’s a boring, badly acted chore to sit through, and it doesn't even have any decent gore since the MPAA insisted most of it was cut.

The negative critical reaction saw fans dodging the series for years, with the likes of Jason Takes Manhattan and Jason X suffering weak box-office. It wasn't until his reboot in 2009 that Jason became a box-office player again.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
