10 Film Sequels That Made Fans Rage Quit

8. The Crow: City Of Angels

The Riddler Batman Forever
Miramax

Considering the Brandon Lee tragedy on the original Crow, a sequel didn’t feel like the best idea anyway. City Of Angels had potential, though, with the director and screenwriter intending it to be completely different from the original. The story has a guy called Ashe coming back to life to avenge the death of himself and his son, by taking down the gang responsible.

Angels was a good deal darker originally, ending with Ashe being left to wander the earth as a spirit, following his decision to intervene in the affairs of the living. The studio was concerned about the borderline depressing tone, deciding to heavily re-edit the movie so it was more of an action flick.

The results were disastrous, resulting in a confusing storyline with inconsistent character actions and scenes that made little sense. The director disowned it, and it grossed less than half the original. The next two movies went straight to DVD, with the fourth entry – Wicked Prayer –being notable for just how awful it was.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
