The workplace can be toxic. As our individual needs or needs as a family grow and opportunities do not, we often take jobs we don't want. Sorry to Bother You takes a deep dive into what it's like to have to settle for a job and suffer the promotions.

The story centers on Cassius "Cash" Green as he lands a job as a telemarketer for the company RegalView. Upon struggling with landing clients, a coworker implores Cash to use his "white voice." Excelling and ultimately earning a promotion and with-it unwanted information. He learns what he's really been selling at RegalView. Though he is uncomfortable with the job, the money has made vast improvements in his life. Cash's morals are pushed to the limit when he finds what the company has been hiding at the CEO's party.

In this case, fantasy deals with the struggles in maintaining identity with a dramatic spin. The points in this film are driven home with absurd logic. Yet, we know exactly how this story fits in our world. Sorry to Bother You reminds us how easy it is to lose ourselves while squeezing to fit into other boxes.
