The alleged Superman curse has been the talking point for fans for many years, to the point that it has been the focal point for several documentaries. The curse in question spans over the comic characters creation, effecting a large number of people involved in bringing the Man of Steel to the screen.

Two of the best known examples involved the biggest stars to have donned the famous S, both George Reeves, the star of popular 50s series, The Adventures of Superman and Christopher Reeve, arguably the definitive Superman.

George Reeves played the character in the Adventures of Superman over the space of 6 years, which ran throughout the 50s. The actor died of a single gunshot wound to the head in 1959, and though it was deemed a suicide, it was later revealed his fingerprints were never found on the gun.

Christopher Reeve, the star of the big screen adaptation was left paralysed after a horse riding accident in 1995. He sadly passed away almost a decade later in 2004 due to complications stemming from the injury.

Stories of Margot Kidder's breakdown in 90s, and the death of actor Lee Quigley, who played the baby Kal-El in Richard Donner's movie and died aged just 14, have backed fans theories of the curse.

Urban legend dictates that the curse is down to the fact that Superman’s creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster were cheated out of royalties after selling the rights to Warner Bros. and then placed a curse upon those that cross paths with the Man of Steel.
