10 Films That Should Never Be Remade
4. Pulp Fiction
It’s not often that you find a film with such a stellar cast from top to bottom as Pulp Fiction.
Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, Christopher Walken… this cult classic is absolutely stacked with Hollywood stars, and the cast certainly live up to their individual reputations with fantastic performances.
None stood out quite so much as Jackson in the role as the leading man, Jules Winnfield.
The fact that this man’s performance alone is enough to ensure that this film will never be remade allows me to refrain from waxing lyrical about Jackson for the rest of the article.
Away from the acting, the standout of this movie is almost certainly the non-linear storytelling on display.
Cut into seven parts, Pulp Fiction never has a subsequent run of chronological events. Whilst many films attempt this on a far smaller scale – more often than not just using one or two flashbacks for some context and exposition – Pulp Fiction executes this storytelling method throughout, as opposed to relying on it as a gimmick to dump some key parts of the narrative on the viewer.
Pulp Fiction has built a huge cult following, and a remake should certainly never be considered.
