Peter Jackson's large, sprawling epic sweeping across three excellent films that pretty much-redefined cinema for a while, nerds everywhere rejoiced the joyous news that Peter Jackson had even longer instalments of his hugely popular franchise in store.

While many of the additions to the film seem to be revolved around extending scenes or adding in small portions here or there, the films do still receive what are known as "Fan Credits" as a small thanks to those who helped out and who had paid to be on there.

The Fellowship of the Ring added in 30 minutes of extras to take the run time up to a whopping 208 minutes. The Two Towers added 44 minutes and The Return of the King added 51 minutes.

The Two Tower's addition of a flashback scene between Boromir (Sean Bean) and Faramir (David Wenham) is a standout and one that has many fans talking and wondering why it wasn't in the original, while The Return of the King sees some truly epic battles expanded upon even more.

What's great about the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is that the pacing remains the same and the inclusions of these scenes don't feel too out of place. Here we can see everything as Peter Jackson had intended and can even see some more of the epic world JRR Tolkien created.

And hey, who needs another excuse to revisit Middle Earth?

Ben Maples hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
