10 Films You Only Ever Remember Seeing The Trailer For

1. Doctor Sleep

In 1980, The Shining was released, based on famous horror author Stephen King's novel of the same name and directed by Stanley Kubrick. Last year saw the release of the sequel, Doctor Sleep, starring Ewan McGregor as adult Dan Torrance, traumatised from the events of the first film.

39 years between the original and the sequel and a bloated runtime caused a disappointing box office haul, as young horror fans of the 21st century were uninterested after the success of original hit thrillers of the last few years like Us, It, Get Out and A Quiet Place. Many were confused to whether Dr Sleep was a sequel to King's successful original or a reboot of the classic which caused them to be turned off to go and watch.

Critics warned viewers that the sequel was heavy on references to the old movie which jarred with the original story the writers came up with.

Despite a bunch of iconic horror names returning to great success, Doctor Sleep fell by the wayside.
