10 Fool-Proof Ways To Save The Terminator Franchise

3. Do Something Interesting With Pops

Having Arnold Schwarzenegger involved with Terminator Genisys was an achievement for Paramount and Skydance. Indeed, his absence (due his political responsibilities, although his CGI likeness appeared in a cameo) was very noticable in Terminator: Salvation back in 2009. Sadly, Genisys€™ use of Arnie wasn€™t particularly enjoyable for many viewers. Although seeing the T-800 in a protector role is nothing new, portraying him for comic relief has never been so prominent in a film. He€™s always got a few laughs, but here Arnie€™s Terminator was the butt of a lot of jokes. Going forward, it would make sense to see Arnie€™s Pops incarnation used in some more interesting ways. The scene pictured above, where he examines his own android hand in a melancholic way is a tantalising tease of what could have been. The Terminator contemplating his own existence, perhaps even touching about philosophical ground, could work well. Better than the cheesy jokes, at least. Also, we€™d expect answers about who sent Pops back in time in the first place. Skynet? John Connor? He somehow chose of his own free will? It€™s hard to guess, but if the franchise continues, we€™ll likely find out.
