10 Foreign Horror Movies You Must Watch For Halloween

8. Timecrimes (2007)

Over the past decade, Spain has come to the forefront of international horror with a number of critically acclaimed movies. Timecrimes may be less well known than some of the other Spanish films included on this list, but its unique combination of science-fiction and horror deserves to be recognized just as much as the more popular horrors made by the likes of Guillermo Del Toro. Timecrimes follows a middle-aged man called Hector who spots a woman stripping in the woods near his home while his wife is out. In a bid to see more, Hector moves closer, but is suddenly attacked by a man wrapped in pink bandages who stabs him with a knife. After managing to escape, Hector comes across a strange building where he encounters a scientist who understands his plight and urges him to hide at a safer location, inside a large mechanical device. Upon emerging from his hiding place, Hector discovers that he has traveled back in time approximately one hour and has become entangled in something far more complicated than he originally envisioned. Time loops and mistaken identity make Timecrimes a difficult movie to follow if you're not fully engaged, but the labyrinthine plot has a huge pay-off if you stick with it to the end. Timecrimes is the perfect film to show someone who believes that horror is nothing more than screams and cheap scares. It will also put you off the idea of time traveling for life. That may not be a concern for you now, but you never know what will happen in the future!
