10 Forgotten 90s Horror Movies You MUST Watch

7. The Devil's Daughter

Lord Of Illusions

Co-written and produced by Dario Argento, The Devil's Daughter (also known as The Sect) focuses on a pre-school teacher called Miriam (played by Jamie Lee Curtis' sister, Kelly Curtis). One day, Miriam invites an injured elder into her house, oblivious that he's an evil Satanist. When he performs a ritual under her home, Miriam's life begins to unravel.

In typical Argento fashion, the Italian horror contains a diverse smorgasbord of nerve-wracking images, which are sure to test anyone's mettle (especially one sequence involving a beetle crawling up a woman's nose). Many of the creepiest sequences are shot from the protagonist's POV with extreme close-ups and warped angles, making the audience feel like they're trapped inside a trippy nightmare.

The Devil's Daughter also provides a surprising amount of humour (including a shot of a rabbit using a remote control). Ironically, these light-hearted and goofy moments elevate the fear factor, since viewers let their guard down, making it more likely they'll be caught out by the jump-scares.

Anyone who's looking for a more off-the-wall, deranged, and grosser version of Rosemary's Baby should give The Devil's Daughter a look.
