10 Found Footage Movies That Are Actually Worth Your Time
8. Creep
Moving away from his typical roles as an affable slacker/goofball, Mark Duplass helped write and star in this assertively uncomfortable found footage doc that answers the question: Why aren't more people found dead following Craigslist meet-ups?
When a videographer responds to a dying man's ad to record a day-in-the-life/farewell video for his unborn son, the gig takes a strange and uncomfortable turn. Things get, as the title implies, quite creepy.
You're not going to like Duplass' character. In fact, there's a good chance you're going to want to strangle him barely halfway into the movie just because he seems to portray the least self-aware person in existence. But it's the way that obliviousness steadily evolves into something much more sinister that ultimately makes the movie stick its landing.
Those who know Duplass from his characters on silly sitcom fare like The League and The Mindy Project will probably be taken aback by his uncanny ability to worm his way under your skin with a blank stare and deceptive smile. And once he's in there, he's going to pull you through the rest of the film just as he does the unwitting videographer.
