10 Fox And Sony Marvel Actors Who Could Reprise Their Roles In The MCU

Which familiar faces could join Electro and J. Jonah Jameson in the MCU?

The news broke last week that Marvel Studios has decided to bring Jamie Foxx back as Electro, a character he first played in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. At the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, J.K. Simmons returned as J. Jonah Jameson, while Patrick Stewart has revealed that he's spoken to Kevin Feige about reprising the role of Professor X.

Clearly, Marvel knows that fans and regular moviegoers alike are smart enough to understand that these actors are playing different versions of the same character. It's also obvious that people simply aren't going to care about continuity issues if it means getting to see their favourite actors back as a character they perfected in the past.

This is incredibly freeing for Marvel Studios too because rather than fretting about using the Multiverse or other complicated plot devices to bring back a familiar face, they can just do it and have it be accepted that this is the way the Marvel Cinematic Universe works. Now, it's really no big deal if an actor who worked on a Fox or Sony movie returns to play a new version of those characters.

Now, the big questions is, who should follow in the footsteps of Foxx and Simmons? Here, you'll find some of the most likely, exciting possibilities...

10. Silver Surfer - Laurence Fishburne

Hellboy star Doug Jones served as the Silver Surfer's body double in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, but it was Man of Steel star Laurence Fishburne who provided the character's voice.

As bad as that movie was, there's no getting around the fact that, alongside Chris Evans' Human Torch, the Surfer was a highlight. A big part of that was thanks to Fishburne's voiceover work, as he injected life into the character in a way that made him feel both otherworldly and heroic in a way that the often conflicted herald of Galactus needs.

As well as playing Perry White in the DC Extended Universe, Fishburne has since taken on the role of Bill Foster in Ant-Man and The Wasp.

However, the Silver Surfer will likely be brought to life on the big screen through the use of motion-capture and visual effects, while the roles are far enough removed that there's no reason to think the actor couldn't continue playing a bit part in the Ant-Man franchise.
