4. Rik Mayall And The Laughing Children

Back in the days of The Philosopher’s Stone, comedy actor Rik Mayall was given the role of Peeves the Poltergeist, and though he did get the chance to perform in front of the cameras, his character was ultimately removed from the final cut of the film.

However, Mayall still made a lasting impression with those who were lucky enough to work with him. The children who performed alongside Mayall kept bursting into fits of laughter due to his comical line delivery. Consequently, the actor was then asked to face the other way before speaking – but this didn’t make any difference. Whenever he opened his mouth, the children couldn’t contain themselves.

Just three weeks after this performance, Mayall was told he wasn’t going to be in the film after all. Though this seems rather harsh, the actor wasn’t too disappointed, as he still received a healthy paycheck for his efforts.

All these years later, Rik Mayall's brief performance has never been shown to Harry Potter fans. We can only hope that the footage will be released at some point in the future.
