By the time Halloween 5 rolled around, the franchise was suffering from chronic fatigue. Rushed into production immediately after the fourth instalment hit big at the box office, this film's production was unsurprisingly troubled and it really does show in the end result.

The half-baked script is somewhat salvaged by some creative direction and the occasional spooky moment, but in the grand scheme of things, this is perhaps the most routine entry in the franchise.

Its one saving grace though is the laundry chute scene.

During the film's climax, young Jamie Lloyd is pursued through the Myers house by her murderous uncle. Being the headstrong final girl that she is, Jaime hides inside the laundry chute, but Michael is quick to catch on to her hiding spot and begins stabbing through the metal in an attempt to get to her.

It's a surprisingly effective and genuinely intense scene, made all the more nerve-shredding by Danielle Harris' petrified performance and the sheer ferocity in which Michael attempts to get to her. Naturally, we all knew she'd get out alive, but for a good minute or two, this film really does have you thinking Michael will succeed in killing his niece.
