10 Giant Plot Holes You Probably Missed In Quentin Tarantino Movies

7. Why Doesn't Max Cherry Leave With Jackie Brown?

Jackie Brown has a great cult following. It never gained the popularity of Tarantino's other films, much less the respect, but critics hailed it for being the turn in Quentin's career. From that point forward he was going to make more down to earth mature films. Talk about critics getting it wrong there. It's definitely one of those films you either love or hate, but one thing that might determine your feelings towards it is the ending. After pulling off the caper of a lifetime, Jackie (Pam Grier) is about to escape to Spain. She already has a criminal record in America and a stunt like the one she just pulled will get her behind bars for a very long time. Before leaving she asks her bail bondsman, Max Cherry, to go with her so that their budding romance can truly begin. He says no. It doesn't make any sense for him to say no. He's a fifty-something bail bondsman with nothing going on in his life. There's always the potential chance that he might get caught up in crime he just helped Jackie commit and go to prison himself. He's not getting any younger and for his age you can't do better than a woman like Pam Grier. So why does he say no? Who's to say, but it certainly made the ending more dramatic.
