10 Goriest Films Of All Time

9. New York Ripper (1982)

new york ripper Italian miscreant director Lucio Fulci lays on the misogyny almost as heavily as the gore in this sleaze cinema classic. There is a moderate amount of gore perpetrated on young women's bodies. The film makes the list because of the highly offensive nature of the gore. Basically, a Donald Duck voiced killer is giving the NYPD a run around because he is stabbing women in the crotch. He keeps taunting the police with quack quack phone calls whilst slicing up the fine fillies of NYC. There are a few red herrings, much degenerate goings on courtesy of a posh nympho woman and then there are serious amounts of gory carnage courtesy of our killer who likes to ram knives and broken bottles up women's vaginas. He also likes to slice up prostitutes with a razor. The prurient nature of the gore in New York Ripper was enough to get it branded a Video Nasty and banned in Britain during the 1980s. The right name for the film is 'squalid'. I have never read any positive reviews about New York Ripper - and that includes many extreme Giallo fan critics. Universally loathed (except for me and some other guy in Swaziland), people nevertheless buy New York Ripper because they are slimy perverts, and that is the highest compliment I can give to a person.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
