8. Bad Taste (1987)
Peter Jackson's first feature film. Aliens invade a small New Zealand town in order to use the inhabitants as nosh for themselves and their planet. The government sends in 'The Boys' to investigate what is going on. Much amusing splatter follows. An alien is tortured by having a spike drilled into his foot by the idiotic Derek who falls off the cliff mangling his skull and brain. An alien eats another alien's brains with a spoon. Derek shoves his brains back into his head with the aid of a tight hat. Frank has to drink alien vomit when he infiltrates an alien meeting. Aliens are picked off one by one in bloody fashion and in the film's gore laden climax, Derek, who replaced some of his brain with alien brain when his hat was shot off, gets even with the alien boss using a chainsaw in a sequence that has to be seen to be believed. So there are plenty of gross out gore moments in Bad Taste but they are less egregious than many of the films on this list - primarily because the mood of the film is light hearted. But gore hounds will still love this film because it delivers seriously gory moments as well as plenty of belly aches.
