10 Great Actors Who Embarrassed Themselves In Film Musicals

5. Gerard Butler in Phantom Of The Opera

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77umP7IRxD4 Many musicals have transferred West End and Broadway success to the silver screen but, despite his theatre credentials, Andrew Lloyd Webber has never won over cinema audiences. There are numerous problems with Joel Schumacher€™s €œPhantom Of The Opera€, not least the casting of Gerard Butler, a relative unknown with practically no singing experience to his name. Unusual casting may have worked with Michael Crawford for the stage version but, for a big budget movie, someone with a bit more star quality and singing talent wouldn€™t have gone amiss.
