10 Great Cliffhangers That Left You Gagging For The Next Movie
3. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
While on the surface The Hunger Games might seem like a sanitized version of the controversial Japanese action thriller Battle Royale, as far as young adult science fiction franchises go it's certainly a cut above much of the competition. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire represented a considerable improvement over the first film, too, tightening up the plot and giving the characters plenty more room to develop. The dystopian themes and satirical elements felt like they were more fleshed out, and it was clear that this series would have a more interesting evolving plot rather than repeating familiar tropes from one installment to the next. The closing scene of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire certainly set people up for an exciting sequel. After surviving another round of the games Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) suddenly finds herself being whisked out of the arena by a group of rebels, discovering on their ship that her home district has been destroyed and a huge revolution is soon to take place. It's the perfect cliffhanger, setting fans up for the final installments.
