2. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Hollywood is known for making big franchises out of pretty much anything it can, and the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies are clearly no exception - while some probably thought the idea of making a film out of a theme park attraction might have been clutching at straws, the end result was promising. The second installment of the franchise, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, while far from living up to the standards of the original remains better than anything that followed. Although that isn't saying a great deal. This time around Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp hamming things up to level 11) has to contend with a blood debt to the legendary Davy Jones, leading him and his unwitting companions on a frantic and more than a little incoherent adventure. Still, the cliffhanger seemed to hint that the next film in the series might be an improvement. In the final scene, with Sparrow trapped in Davy Jones' locker, a captain is needed to lead the rescue mission and the one who presents himself for the task is none other than Captain Barbossa, Sparrow's antagonist from the first film. It's a shame that his presence didn't prevent Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End from being a truly terrible movie...
