10 Great DC Characters That Should Get A Solo Movie (But Won’t)

1. Rorschach

Alan Moore’s Watchmen is considered sacred text amongst comic fans, and rightly so. It managed to deconstruct the genre while telling a great story of its own. The movie version was – outside of a few controversial changes – intensely loyal to the comic, but even then it drew complaints from fans, and Moore himself wanted nothing to do with it.

It’s a book with more than one iconic character, but Rorschach would easily be considered the fan favourite. He’s basically a psychotic version of Batman, with an unwavering dedication to justice and truth; which ultimately seals his fate. Jackie Earle Haley was perfectly cast in the role, capturing the character’s intensity, but also his wounded soul.

A Rorschach movie exploring his early days would be great in theory, but even hardcore fans would be against it. They consider Watchmen a stand alone, and prequel comic series Before Watchmen came in for hefty criticism by many – including Moore – who felt it was a shameless cash grab.

Plus the movie was a financial disappointment, so Warners wouldn’t touch that idea with a long pole.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
