10 Great DC Characters That Should Get A Solo Movie (But Won’t)

Unlike most DC heroes Sgt Rock is decidedly without any kind of superpower, and is just a really tough soldier doing his duty during World War 2. He’s also a former boxer and steel mill worker and is equally handy in combat with a machine gun or his fists.

He’s not the most complex of heroes, but he is one of the most badass. For awhile in the 1990’s Arnie was supposed to star in a big budget adaptation, and while he certainly had the look the accent was an issue. Tarantino also flirted with the idea of directing it, and in 2007 it was briefly revived with Bruce Willis starring and Guy Ritchie directing.

That quickly fell apart, and in the current movie environment, it’s hard to see how a character with the beautiful simplicity of Sgt Rock would even get financed. Unless they go ultra-meta and actually cast The Rock in the part, but since his schedule is full until at least 2062, even that’s not a realistic option.
