10 Great DC Characters That Should Get A Solo Movie (But Won’t)

Before the release of The Dark Knight Rises, it was heavily speculated that Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character was secretly Robin, and that he’d appear in costume during the final act. Naturally, Warner Bros denied those rumours, insisting John Blake was a new character, only for the final few minutes to confirm Blake’s real name actually is Robin.

The final shot of him rising up and continuing Bruce Wayne’s work is the perfect thematic end to the trilogy, though sadly it ruled out actually seeing him in action. That’s a real shame because a JGL Robin/Nightwing movie in the Nolanverse could have been something special.

Watching him struggle to live up to Wayne’s example, whilst helping Gotham rebuilt itself post-Bane sounds like an intriguing set-up, and would allow numerous villains (Penguin, The Riddler etc) to take advantage of the chaos. Alas, the odds of that happening are zero, with DC taking the characters in a new direction and Nolan being long gone from the franchise.
