10 Great Ghost Movies (No One Ever Talks About)
3. The Entity
Okay,
so unlike a lot of the more mainstream and inoffensive offerings on this list,
it’s easy to see why this one’s success was limited.
Released in 1982, The Entity is an unusually harsh and intense ghost story, despite being a rare horror film in which no one actually dies onscreen.
However don’t let that fun fact confuse you—this one more than earned its place on WhatCulture’s recent list of the scariest films in which no one dies, as well as the title of former WWE wrestler Paige’s favourite horror film (another fun fact while we're on a roll).
This gripping and intense tale of a poltergeist sexually assaulting its victims until they’re almost driven mad isn’t for everyone, but this early eighties effort is an undeniably effective, if grim and dark, slice of psychological horror.
With no comforting coda and endless shocking sequences, this film is impressively effective even if it’s definitely not one that all viewers are likely to be comfortable with thanks to its heavy, difficult content.
