10 Great Horror Romance Movies For The Loved And Lost
5. Midsommar
It's hard to even know where to start when talking about the relationship between Dani and Christian. She would straight up be better off dating Christine than this guy.
A trip to a festival in an isolated Swedish village turns into a waking nightmare for a group of college students, as an inescapable darkness lives underneath the gorgeous scenery.
At the start of the movie, Dani's entire family dies when her sister commits murder-suicide. Instead of comforting her like a normal person would, Christian complains about her to his friends and makes everything all about himself.
Even before tragedy struck, Dani clearly had some problems. Despite knowing this, and also knowing that he is in no way prepared to be in a serious relationship, Christian still stays with her. By doing this, he causes Dani more suffering than he would by simply ending things.
He claims to be afraid of what would happen to her by calling it splits, but that's just an excuse. In truth, Christian likes having someone else around who is more than a mess than him. He views Dani as a means to an end. A tool rather than a person.
The same thing could be said for the cult too, as by leaving her life behind Dani unknowingly goes full circle. Poor girl can't catch a break.
