10 Great Movie Characters Ruined By Awful CGI

6. Ang Lee’s Hulk

Ang Lee Hulk Feature CGI

Perhaps you think it's unfair to criticise a movie from way back in 2003 for limited CGI work, but the reality is that Ang Lee's Hulk came out a full decade after Jurassic Park and looks like it came out 20 years before it.

There is some suggestion that the character rendering pushed the limits of the effects industry at the time, but it's demonstrably not true. Yes, some of the facial capture is admirably achieved (though it looks absolutely nothing like Eric Bana because it's not his face), but the rest of him looks like an animation dropped into a live action background. Like Scooby-Doo. Or Roger Rabbit.

It's too hard to think of this Hulk as an exaggeration of Banner's humanity, which is the entire point of Ang Lee's more reflective plot and that causes a disjoint to the story that it's never able to get over.
