Thrown back in time to the high school days of his parents, lovable slacker Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) teams up with eccentric scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) to make sure his parents end up together, and find his way home.
It's a simple, hilarious story boosted to greatness by its two leading stars, sharp social commentary and witty script, and one which stands tall as one of the best movies of the 80s.
It may have spawned two also-phenomenal sequels, but even so Back to the Future is about as great as time travel cinema gets. Well, almost...
