10 Great Movies Starring Doctor Who Actors You Need To See
1. Simon Pegg, Nick Frost And More! - Shaun Of The Dead
There might be no movie out there to feature this many appearances from actors who have also been in Doctor Who, none of whom are actual incarnations of The Doctor himself.
Given that Shaun of the Dead and the preceding sitcom Spaced are both packed full of nerd references of the highest calibre, it is perhaps no surprise that so many of these actors have also appeared in the world’s longest running science-fiction series.
Just to jog your memory; Simon Pegg appeared in The Long Game as the mysterious Editor. The same episode also featured a brief appearance from Tamsin Grieg. Nick Frost appeared in Last Christmas playing none other than Santa Claus himself. Matt Lucas also joined the Twelfth Doctor in The Husbands Of River Song. Lucas went on to be a recurring companion for the twelfth incarnation throughout season 10. Jessica Stevenson delivered a fantastic performance opposite David Tennant in the highly lauded episode Human Nature/The Family of Blood whilst Bill Nighy appeared briefly as an art gallery tour guide in Vincent And The Doctor.
Rounding us out of course is Penelope Wilton who made multiple appearances on the show during the RTD years as hapless MP-turned-disgraced Prime Minister Harriet Jones (but you already know who she is).
It is perhaps a testament to the success of Shaun of the Dead and the careers it kicked off that so many of those actors would go on to appear in the revived Doctor Who throughout its run. Now, if only we could get Edgar Wright himself in to direct an episode…
