10 Great Movies Starring The Cast Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer
1. Ed Wood
Possibly the best film in the patchy careers of both Tim Burton and Johnny Depp is 1994’s Ed Wood. A tender and visually gorgeous biopic of the titular B movie maestro, it sees the director at his least knowingly quirky and the star unusually human as the pair capture and celebrate the bizarre career of a fellow outcast.
The movie won an Oscar for the late, legendary Martin Landau who co-stars as fading horror icon Bela Lugosi. Burton’s not necessarily known as an actor’s director, but he gets the most out of everyone involved here, including Juliette Landau, daughter of Martin and best known to TV fans as Drusilla.
It’s a completely different performance for the actress, who’s entertaining if a little one note (by virtue of the character) on telly. She plays Loretta King, an aspiring performer who’s swept into Wood’s cadre of misfits and wannabes.
Ed Wood is a must-watch for any fans of classic cinema (even if the director’s films could not in any way be described as “classic”). It’s a smart, sweet, sensitive film that should be remembered when Burton gets to his most indulgent.
