10 Great Recent Horror Movies That Not Enough People Have Seen

2. Starry Eyes

Jug Face
Snowfort Pictures

Another excellent but under-seen effort from 2014, this film from Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer explores the dark side of the search for fame and glory in Hollywood, in a stylish, grisly and surprising manner.

Alex Essoe is Sarah, an ambitious up-and-coming actress struggling to get her foot in the door. When a casting call unexpectedly turns in her favour, Sarah finds herself invited to meet with a seasoned producer for the lead role in a horror movie. She may think all her prayers have been answered, but it soon becomes apparent she may be about to sign a deal with the Devil.

A powerful, atmospheric piece with an excellent central performance from Essoe, Starry Eyes also makes for somewhat timely viewing right now given the slew of horrible revelations coming out of the entertainment industry. Kolsch and Widmyer also recently signed on to helm a new take on Stephen King's Pet Sematary, which is very promising news indeed.

Ben Bussey hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
