10 Great Under The Radar Movies Still To Come In 2016

6. Blood Father

While Mel Gibson hasn’t entirely disappeared from our screens – he was the villain in The Expendables 3, remember? – it’s fair to say his acting career hasn’t been on fire the last decade or so, for reasons that are hardly a secret.

He’s still an iconic actor in his own right, though, and we’ve missed him doing his thing on the big screen. On that note, he’s pulling a Taken with his next role, a gritty action thriller where his ex-con has to protect his daughter from gangsters. He does this with the aid of a motorcycle and big shotgun, as opposed to going to the police for help.

Blood Father has received strong reviews from various festivals, with praise being heaped on Gibson’s comeback performance. It probably helps that his character is seeking redemption for his troubled past; subtext which probably isn't an accident.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
