Singin' in the Rain oozes classic American charm. It's pure, unadulterated whimsy that deserves to be fondly remembered by all, whether you were around when it first came out or only recently stumbled upon it. Fun and fancy free, Singin' in the Rain is always a treat to watch, especially on a rainy day.

Gene Kelly was a once in a lifetime performer; the title song's entire sequence exudes happiness from start to finish, a childlike grin swept across his chin whilst he taps and stomps his way through the Californian downpour. It would be hard to find a sequence that's been parodied, copied or referenced since its release.

That of course doesn't limit the movie to one single song; this uplifting mood is carried throughout, with songs like Moses Supposes or showcasing the raw talent of its lead performers. Singin' in the Rain is simply a joy to watch from start to finish.

Singin' in the Rain is one film that begs to be seen by everyone; it's an example of the skill that's required of lead performers like Kelly or his co-stars Donald O'Connor and Jean Hagen, and is a masterclass in the utter charm of the classic Hollywood movie musical.
