10 Greatest Ever Stoner Movies

This film has reached cult status, with a legion of celebrities, before they were famous.

It follows a group of High Schoolers on their last day before summer, including that infamous hazing scene, where the freshmen boys are paddled by the senior boys and the freshmen girls are covered in ketchup, mustard and flour and made to propose to the senior boys. 

It is the quintessential coming of age film, with the beginning to a summer vacation that can only appear in a film. It is the last day of school everyone feels they should have, but few get to experience. So who better to live vicariously through than a group of teens in the 70s? 

Staring Matthew McConaughey, Jason London, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Parker Posey and Adam Goldberg, it is a coming of age film with one of the best soundtracks to date, featuring The Runaways, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and KISS.

Best Moment

At the end of the film, some of the seniors are laying on the football pitch, discussing the year ahead. Don says "I want to know I did it the best I could while I was stuck in this place." The comment still runs true for those high school misfits over 20 years after it was filmed.
