James Mangold's 2005 biopic just makes it in the decade guideline but it is truly one of the very best and most memorable biopics of all time. Walk The Line tells the brilliant story of country music star Johnny Cash, from his troubled childhood to his loving relationship with June Carter. Style-wise, Mangold rocked this slick and stunning movie; making the look of the film just as first class as the narrative itself. With wonderful sets, brilliant locations and lovely costume; Walk The Line is just an all round good looking flick. The true brilliance of this fan favourite movie is the extensive look at all the sides of Johnny Cash's character and his turbulent life. From memories of his very early childhood and the horror of losing his brother, to some of the most important days of his musical career, the film offered an opportunity to see behind the legend and his music. The relationship between Joaquin Phoenix's Cash and Reese Witherspoon's June is absolutely heart-warming while remaining dramatic. Both performances are injected with charm and brutal honesty,ensuring this stunning film feels completely genuine while being visually exceptional.
