10 Greatest Opening Scenes In MCU History
4. Iron Man
Jon Favreau was tasked with not only introducing the world to the first cinematic version of Iron Man, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the whole. If his 2008 outing had flopped, the MCU would never have been given a chance, much like Universal’s Dark Universe, but thankfully this wasn’t the case.
The movie got off to arguably the strongest possible start with AC/DC’s Back in Black pounding as audiences everywhere were introduced to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. From the second he appeared on screen, the actor commanded the scene, and began to carve out his Marvel legacy.
The opening scene of the movie allowed Tony to shine, bringing his personality forth as much as possible. He had a drink in his hand, he boasted about the Victoria's Secret models he hooked up with, and he hit on the woman driving the vehicle. He was hilarious, charming, and simply Tony Stark in a nutshell.
Before too long however, the action started. Explosions dropped, bullets started flying, and the soon to be trademark Marvel humour seemed a distant memory, as Tony’s transformation into Iron Man began with a bang. This opening scene had everything, and it’s hard to imagine the franchise getting off to a better start.
