When ranking the 27 movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are very few factors that would have Age of Ultron this close to the top. The sequel to The Avengers from three years before underwhelmed on just about every level, however its opening scene was simply incredible.

It picked up with the Avengers immediately working together to bring down Von Strucker’s HYDRA base. In the original movie, fans had to wait until the third act for this type of action, but here it was out of the gate in Age of Ultron.

The amazing one shot opening went from Nat and Clint, to Iron Man, to Thor, to Cap, to Banner, culminating in the excellent shot of the six of them flying across the screen. This was only to be broken by the movie’s iconic ‘language’ scene that reminded fans that this was still an MCU movie, and it would still have that trademark humour.

This massive set piece also featured for the first time Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, as two new and unique entities in the franchise, bringing Earth’s Mightiest Heroes back onto screens around the world at a pace that unfortunately wouldn't be matched by the rest of the movie.
