3. American Pie
Without a doubt the defining comedy of the current young generation,
American Pie set a precedent that would become all too familiar in the wake of its 1999 release. Not only am I referring to the somewhat forgettable
American Pie Presents series, but also to just about any R-Rated teen comedy that followed. However, the film that coined the glorious term 'MILF' can't truly be criticised just because it was successful enough to inspire carbon copies, so we'll focus instead on the positives. Of which, you could count on the one hand; that is to say if you're some mutant freak who has the ability to grow countless fingers and thumbs. Yes, this film had it all: the jock, the sex pest, the guy already in a relationship, the nerd and the hopeless romantic; all of whom were united by their high libido and lack of the means in which to satisfy it. As to the film itself, high school friends Jim (Jason Biggs), Finch (Eddie Thomas), Oz (Chris Klein), Kevin (Thomas Nicholas) and Stifler (Seann William Scott) set themselves the sole goal of losing their virginity by or before prom night. The laughs, of course, imminently await, but most importantly, these guys redefined the meaning of the term 'cringe'. With this in mind, be advised, view this one with your parents at your own peril; your relationship will never be the same again.
