10 Greatest Sci-Fi Movie Villains Of The 2020s (So Far)

3. Scarlet Witch - Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

The Invisible Man
Marvel

Benedict Cumberbatch's second main outing as the universe's most smug physician did not go over as well as the Marvel bigwigs would have wanted.

A lacklustre script and general superhero fatigue meant that Multiverse of Madness was not universally beloved upon its release in 2022. One thing that was almost wholly praised though was the performance of Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

Off the back of the events of WandaVision, Wanda is distraught and heartbroken at the loss of her idyllic life with Vision and her two children. Upon discovering a young girl with the ability to hop through the Multiverse, Wanda goes on a rampage to track her down.

Scarlet Witch has always been one of the comics' most powerful characters, and this film is the closest thing we've seen to that in the MCU. Her command of magic combined with her single-minded determination make her a truly mighty force; one that Stephen Strange must up his game to defeat.

A fantastic character in a divisive film, it's just a shame that you need to have sat through 20 movies, a dozen TV shows, and an instructional slideshow to fully understand it.
