2. Dazed And Confused

Richard Linklater's classic comic drama is also one of the best stoner movies of all time. Set in the 1970s, it's a ripe setting for plenty of drug-infused mayhem; the story follows a group of teenagers on the last day of school in 1976.

It also introduced audiences to a variety of young future movie stars, including Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Parker Posey, Cole Hauser, Joey Lauren Adams and Adam Goldberg. It's one of those great, relatable teen tales about trying to stave off boredom over the summer, and what better way to do that than by drinking and toking a lot?

Kids will like it for its appeal to their current predicament, and adults will love the nostalgic element, accentuated by the fantastic selection of 1970s music, including Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Alice Cooper, Lynyrd Skynyrd and so on. This is arguably Linklater's best film to date.
