10 Greatest Superhero Movie Endings Of All Time
4. Avengers: Infinity War
Because Thanos had been built up for years as the biggest threat to the Marvel universe, he had an unrealistic amount of hype to live up to. However, the character managed to surpass everyone's expectations, becoming the most fleshed out and popular villain in the MCU. Not only that, he did what no one else could; he defeated the superheroes of Earth and executed his evil plan perfectly.
After obtaining the six reality-altering Infinity Stones, the Mad Titan wiped out half of all life in the universe with a snap of his fingers. The decision for the directors to throw away the cliche of "the heroes saving the world" for this finale was bold but it totally paid off.
The only thing that lessens the impact of this heart-wrenching conclusion was the fact that we knew the heroes lost in The Snap weren't gone for good. (Like they would really kill off Doctor Strange or the Guardians of the Galaxy when they're already contracted for more movies!)
Nevertheless, it's tough not to get choked up watching Spider-Man begging for his life as he dissolves into nothing.
