10 Greatest Superhero Movie Endings Of All Time

2. Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame was the twenty-second entry in the MCU, and the finale of an eleven-year saga. Not only did it have to serve as a satisfying ending to the most ambitious film franchise in cinematic history but it also had to tie up all the loose ends, not just of the previous film but of the entire series. Because of this, fans were terrified that the directors would screw it up somehow.

Astoundingly, Avengers: Endgame was an absolute triumph. Not only was the final battle as epic as we hoped, every main character was given at least one moment to shine.

But even after Thanos's forces are defeated, the film is far from over. Now, it has to wrap up every character's story arc. Because there are so many superheroes, the ending could have been a drag. (I'm getting flashbacks of Return of the King.)

But because this is (probably) the last time we will see Tony Stark and Steve Rogers in the MCU, the directors decided focus the ending on them. We don't need to know exactly what happened to Ant-Man or Doctor Strange. We'll see them again. But for Cap and Iron Man; this was the perfect goodbye.
