5. Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz)

Dr. Schultz is, simply put, the most compassionate character that Tarantino has written yet. He's the only white character with any sort of redeeming value at all in Django Unchained and is certainly the easiest character to like. Jamie Foxx's Django may be the star of the movie but it's Dr. Schultz that I always think of most when discussing Django Unchained. It's Christoph Waltz's masterful acting that completely sells the performance from his silver tongued and lethal introduction all the way to his untimely demise. In a movie full of death and pain it's Dr. Schultz's death that hits you the hardest because of his motives for being in Candyland. All he wanted to do was help Django rescue his lost love and it ended up being the last thing he ever did.
